Shares of Wynn Resorts (WYNN) finished the regular session at $101.85 which was down $0.67. After the close the company reported earnings and the stock finished the extended session at $104.75 but as the chart shows, not everyone who bought after the close made money. In fact, the average price that shares of WYNN traded at in the after hours session was $106.67 meaning that the sellers were in control of the session. Notice how the VWAP moving average (light blue line) acted as resistance once the stock broke through it to the downside and the VWAP line was declining. I sold the stock short at a price of 106.70 at 4:58 PM and covered at 5:09 PM with a gain of $0.70 per share, clearly (in perfect hindsight) I didn’t hold long enough, I rarely do though.
