Discord Policies

Be Professional

• Trading is a business and for most people, our Discord is their primary interaction with other traders throughout the day. It is their professional place of business, their office. Please remember this before you post anything. Be RESPECTFUL of other peoples’ time and make it your goal to ADD VALUE with anything you share.

Be Specific with Idea Sharing

• If you’d like to share a trade, try to do so before or at the time of your entry. This way, we can all benefit from ACTIONABLE information and have the opportunity to participate together.
• When mentioning trades, please INCLUDE THE TIMEFRAME. You can do this by placing it in the appropriate channel—day trade, swing trade, or investment.
• Always INCLUDE THE SYMBOL when sharing a chart, as it might not be immediately obvious.
• Please remember to INCLUDE A STOP LEVEL with your trade idea. Without it, the idea is incomplete and may be removed without further explanation.

When and How to Share Updates

• Avoid mentioning trades only AFTER THEY’VE SIGNIFICANTLY MOVED. This isn’t helpful and can create FOMO (Fear of Missing Out) in others.
• Whether you win, lose, or draw, please always FOLLOW UP on the stocks you mention. We’re interested in hearing how things turned out for you.
• Everyone has losers. Don’t be shy and MENTION THOSE as well. It is how you handle them that is the difference between winners and losers.
• We all get quotes, so there’s no need to simply state “XYZ is up xx% or XYZ new high etc.” If you are excited about a stock that you own, and have mentioned previously, SHARE WHAT A NEW HIGH MEANS. “XYZ is up xx% and I am raising my stop to xxx.” That is a value add.

No Levered Products

• Levered products such as ETFs and stocks can be great trading vehicles for experienced traders, especially in a retirement account where shorting and margin purchases cannot be made. However, they are NOT APPROPRIATE for all traders. The Alphatrends policy does not include levered products. We welcome MENTIONING your trade, but do not mention the LEVERED PORTION.
• For instance, you might trade the triple short SPY product SPXU but you should only mention SPY and corresponding price levels, never the leveraged product.

Be Aware of Influence

• There are people here of all EXPERIENCE LEVELS in the market. Be careful who you follow. I have noticed the people who are typically the most CONFIDENT usually have the least experience, as these people have yet to be HUMBLED by the market and are DANGEROUS to themselves and others.
